Re: The Bredesen protocol -- fasting three hours before bed
That's grazing? Shame. I should be able to get my early meal down to under 2 hours and my late one done in an hour. When I'm eating a lot of bulk (all these vegetables) it's uncomfortable to eat very fast. Oh, well, lots of variables to mess with and I'm sure I'll work it out. My early meal (feeding...

Question about timing of eating and blood glucose testing
I understand that the benchmark numbers to watch are fasting, 1 hr after a meal, 2 hr pp and 5 hr pp, but I am wondering how my typical morning (like today) fits into that. I broke my fast about 1:15 with a half ounce of nuts, then slurped a couple of oysters out of their shells and tried a teaspoon...

Re: WAPF "Wise Traditions" Article by Amy Berger
We crave protein because it converts to sugar? That's the first time I've ever heard that. I don't have much in the way of cravings, other than for more food, period, once in a while, but I'd like to know if anyone has heard that before. Not arguing about optimal levels, either, by the way, just won...

Re: statins and alzheimer's
I am not arguing with you about pharmaceutical companies and money, but a group can have lots of heart disease and not become extinct because diseases of old age don't interfere with reproduction. Right?

Re: WAPF "Wise Traditions" Article by Amy Berger
Great post, Julie. When you say you "limit protein", what's your target range? And do you view animal and plant proteins the same? What about muscle meat vs the other animal based varieties? (If this is a hijacking and something you've talked about elsewhere, apologies, and would appreciat...

Re: Types of SFA's, blood lipids and E4's
PS Richard, I would like to look up that paper about MUFAs over carbs if you (or anybody else) comes across it. Thx.

Re: Types of SFA's, blood lipids and E4's
From Richard: The complement to that paper is the one comparing the shifting of SFA's to MUFA's vs carbs among E4's (don't have that reference handy right now). MUFA's clearly won out, so when finding somewhat higher palmitic/high MUFA sources like EVOO and avocados, I would be very hesitant to elim...

Re: FWIW department
I don't know whether anyone else will find this useful or not -- I was fiddling with numbers for my own information, trying to figure how I might lower the proportion of palmitic acid in my diet without necessarily lowering total fat, and did these calculations. I may well have done something stupid...
