Re: Disturbed sleep & AD
Disturbed sleep is the area where I am struggling most. Me too. It's just a genetic thing in my case, I'm pretty sure. My mom and my siblings and I all have sleep maintenance insomnia. Nothing but eating heavily right before bedtime, and maintaining a BMI close to 23 (and I'm an ectomorph, so that'...

Re: Experiences with FMD/multi-day fasts
Hey gang, Well, I got to day seven, and, just as before, decided to stop by late afternoon, and had around 800 calories of nuts for dinner. Was really losing my mental focus, and it somehow didn't feel healthy. ("Why was it that I walked into the living room?") On the whole the fast was a ...

Re: Experiences with FMD/multi-day fasts
Betty, thanks for the tip about lithium! Like many here, I normally take 1 mg/day (though not when I'm in a part of the world where there's plenty in the drinking water), but I'll try 5 mg tonight.

Experiences with FMD/multi-day fasts
(Continued from Designing an E4 fasting trial thread .) But, meanwhile, I had a curiously cool and positive experience and am ready to push it out to at least six days (that doesn't include my low-cal descent days), starting now! Though, at least as randomly as you, I'll TRY to wait a full ten days....

Re: High-fat diet leads to same intestinal inflammation as a virus
apod, thanks for being far less lazy than I was this morning when I posted the link to the report on the study! The dietary constituents make it pretty clear that I can keep eating my mounds of nuts! (Or rather: that this study provides no evidence to make me stop.) The tomato compound is ...

Will have to read the study to see what kind of fat it was, of course (and whether there was any bodyweight change).

Re: Designing an E4 Fasting trial...
Humans may need to go significantly longer than rodents for the same "signal". I think that could be right, but it may depend on the signal in question . The interesting CR Society discussion (previous link) makes me wonder whether more frequent two-day fasts might be optimal for many (ag...
