Deciding about a clinical trial

I'm not sure if this is the right place in the forums to post but wanted to get some feedback on a consideration I'm debating to participate in a clinical trial. For reference it is this one: NCT03663387. It is measuring CSF clearance of amyloid and tau from the brain using PET with tracers not appr...

Re: Brand new to group - 1st post

Hi jkramer65! welcome to the group...I only joined a few months ago myself and am still learning so much about this gene. I am also 4/4. My father died at 73 of a massive heart attack, my mother is about to turn 93 later this month and has some mild memory issues that are very acceptable for this a...

Men tend to get Cardio Vascular issues first and die from that rather than AD...I had a stroke 4 years ago, but "only" a minor one.
It is always something!

Re: Brand new to group - 1st post

After all she has NEVER exercised, smoked for 50 years, ate like shit, drank like a fish. I could go on. Oh yeah, she is morbidly obese. Go figure. Well, if she does have a protecting gene, I hope they find it! Your dad may have been a 4/4. Since he died in 2011, much has been learned about Alzheim...

Re: Brand new to group - 1st post

UPDATE! Got my mother's results from 23 and me. I thought she might be e2/e4 but she is e3/e4 so curious what is in her genes to have prevented AD. She turns 92 on January 18! Jane Jane, e3/e4s risk for Alzheimer's is nowhere near as high as for e4/e4s, and can often be overcome by lifestyle choice...

Re: Brand new to group - 1st post

Hello JKramer65. Sending warm wishes your way. You got a "surprise" from the side of the family where we might have counted on a E3 or E2. What you're feeling is very normal. It might help to know that there are many other genes and environmental factors other than E4 that play a role. Gi...

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD

Yes, my suggestion quoted above is particular to the other member's situation in which having one E4 is already a given. But I mean CC AND CC so if you are CC at rs7412 and a CC at rs429358 isn't that a 4/4? So CC alone with rs7412 is one copy of an e4 correct? What am I not getting? The member had...

Re: Polygenic info used to identify risk of AD

Hi Marc, I was trying to figure out how to upload my raw data from 23 and Me when I realized you were just asking about how many of the Apoe4 genes I have. :D I have one Apoe4. (I had put those bits of information into the post that took me so long to write that it timed out and was lost :D ). They...

Re: Plasmalogens- exciting new evidence

Question: Do you just divide your HDL by your LDL to get the ratio? Also what is considered high? Is there a marker? Thanks! Jkramer65, you divide the LDL by the HDL to the the LDL/HDL ratio. I've attached a sample Lipid Profile with LDL/HDL ratio test results. You can see the lab's normal range, w...
