Re: RE: Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women

So wonderful to hear this, Stavia!!! I understand the desire to reduce and I think it makes good physiological sense. Our reproductive systems were not meant to work into perpetuity... BUT if menopause is a symptom of aging and aging is one of the greatest risk factors for AD, it's kind of tempting...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women

...no brain fog whatsoever. Feel normal again. Totally normal. All those wasted weeks unnecessarily of feeling awful. (Sorry, Tapatalk bugged) Lessons: I am clearly very oestrogen dependent in terms of sleep and cognitive function. As a 4/4, this might be applicable to other 4/4s. It is a very subtl...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women

Sleep and brain fog, my experience: When I went into menopause age 53, the only symptom was waking every sleep cycle and not being able to get back to sleep easily, if at all. Had a car accident after weeks of this. Took a leap of faith and started HRT 50mcg patches, within 2 nights sleep was restor...

Re: Lipids & Sat Fat Question

Hi mb00 and welcome. ApoB assay is a chemical method which measures the number of apoB molecules in a unit volume. Each LDL particle has one. LDLp assay is done with the serum going into a little MRI machine, and uses a surrogate measure of resonance to calculate the number of LDL particles. Obvious...

Re: apoe4 and osteoporosis.

TheBrain: I remember you as being quite small. Low body weight is a significant factor in osteoporosis. Rule of thumb I use is anything under 50kg is a significant risk factor here.

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Best way to test insulin sensitivity?

Well with IR, often there is associated fatty liver, so this statement of hers is often true. Fatty liver shows as raised GGT, ALT, AST usually. If I see a low GGT, especially with a lean active person, I take it as a surrogate marker of insulin sensitivity. (medical term is NASH = non alcoholic st...

Re: RE: Re: Best way to test insulin sensitivity?

This is interesting. I argued with the nurse when I asked for a fasting insulin test at a recent blood draw and she refused. She said that she'd worked most of her life in a diabetes clinic and that if my insulin was high even with normal blood glucose, that I would have dysregulated potassium and ...

Re: RE: Re: Anybody interested in a lipid chat with Dave Feldman?

I still believe high LDL is only a problem in a high glucose environment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXKJaQeteE0 Otherwise, high LDL is protective. It is a theory, which deserves serious consideration. I however am not convinced beyond reasonable doubt that a high LDL is innocuous in everyone ...

Re: Anybody interested in a lipid chat with Dave Feldman?

Julie I never specifically said who Dayspring corrected. I just said there were many corrections - which was sobering for me generally, as I naively assume prominent bloggers with science background and a large following (no names specifically at all, I am speaking in general terms) have facts and c...
