Re: Zilkha Symposium on AD

No worries Richard, you didn't freak me out, my genetics freak me out! Cumulatively, I feel I was the recipient of every bad snp my parents had to give :). My screen name is true, I always look for the silverlining and though my perspective will sometimes narrow into a thin, dark tunnel, it's not lo...

Re: Zilkha Symposium on AD

Of course, this is a line of research about basic mechanisms. WARNING: my speculation follows... I suspect that those with accumulating tau problems are more susceptible to messed up cerebral blood flow regulation. While this would logically happen in the case of cardiovascular disease, it may also...

Re: Pain Management

Lot of good thoughts here. Last year we completed a bathroom renovation and we installed a deep soaker tub. The new tub combined with our solar water heater water has been great for joint pain. I do take the curcumin and DHA xtra from Nordic Naturals. I've considered the glucosamine chondroitin, but...

Pain Management

There is a thread recently resurrected that is morphing into pain relief so I thought a dedicated post might be worthwhile. I have structural pain (connective tissue disorder/osteoarthritis); I do not believe diet is the cause. I do think that the pain levels are exacerbated by activity, but I MUST ...

Re: Glucose/Insulin 3-hour test result

Hubbs, I've mentioned before I have very similar BG pattern. My GTT peaked over 200 at one hour, ended at 60 two hour mark, don't know what it was at three hour. I do know that I have severe near blackouts whenever I have huge BG swings like these. These blackouts caused me to seek medical care in 2...

Re: Treat MTHFR C677T if you have it

Chris, Welcome! I also wanted to chime in with my mthfr status. I'm also homo for the A, normal for the C (like you). I don't see many here with that profile. I've had my homocysteine tested twice. Once in 2010 by a neurologist who ordered a slew of labs looking for cause of nerve damage. At that ti...

Re: Ideal post-menopausal estrogen level?

S, let's not talk about body parts lest I get whipped up in a wave of envy that I don't have your gorgeous sea blue eyes! Plus I keep it on my backside; they (hyster sisters that is!) say you get 20% more absorption...

I'm also in the camp that your Dr is very conservative, not a bad thing. I do have blood clotting risk and yet I'm prescribed the transdermal HRT...
