Re: Disturbed sleep & AD

That's exactly right, Circ, at least my understanding is that the glymphatic system functions ONLY in DEEP sleep. (I am by no means an expert in this.) If someone sleeps several hours, but for whatever reason doesn't cycle through all the stages of sleep, and in fact misses deep sleep - then the tox...

Re: Disturbed sleep & AD

I think Dr. Pizzorno was referring to the glymphatic system, a "recently discovered macroscopic waste clearance system that utilizes a unique system of perivascular tunnels, formed by astroglial cells, to promote efficient elimination of soluble proteins and metabolites from the central nervous...

Re: Disturbed sleep & AD

Thank you, Alysson, for the information on Kavinace, and for the iherb site reference. I've just gone there and it looks great. I think just about everyone I know has some kind of sleep concern. For a long time, I have to say, I pretty much considered that "normal." But now I know how dama...

Re: Disturbed sleep & AD

Alysson, I was very interested in your mention of Kavinace. Dr. Mark Menolascino (medical director of the Meno Clinic in Wyoming) mentioned it in a webinar (in our program at FMCA) on sleep from a functional medicine perspective. He spoke of its use in assisting patients to get off Zolpidem (Ambien)...

Re: You tube video "Alzheimer's Disease, How I Stopped and Reversed It"

hke, have you seen the Primer for the site? It's written by a physician member, and has a great deal of information. Here's the link: https://forums.apoe4.info/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1418 . Or, you can reach it by clicking WELCOME, and finding the link in the second paragraph. Do you have any ques...

Re: Brain Health Courses

Jolicoeur, thank you for posting the interview with Dr. Kharrazian, and highlighting the section on exercise. I spend a lot of time at my computer, and found excuses not to go into the back room where we kept our stationary bike. When I realized how detrimental that can be, I plopped the exercise bi...

Re: Brain Health Courses

Trieng, I like Dr. Kharrazian's work very much. He was recently made a research fellow at Harvard, I think. I believe we will see good things from him in the future. The online course you took definitely looks intriguing. Welcome to the Forum, if we haven't said that before.

Re: Starting Suppliments

Adam, you've seen good responses to your post already and have found the Primer. I'll just add that curcumin is an ingredient in turmeric (considered the medicinal part I believe). Several studies have shown efficacy of curcumin for many conditions. I'll also strongly second the suggestion that you ...
