I've never heard of a mitochondrial link but will be sure to check out the new wiki entry. Thank you so much for mentioning this! Very good to know!TheresaB wrote:Whenever I hear of a strong maternal history of Alzheimer's, I suspect a mitochondrial link. Mitochondrial DNA is inherited solely from the mother.

A bit of a belated introduction!
I suppose it’s time I introduce myself, though I’ve been posting and lurking here for awhile. I’m a 55 year old female, living near Seattle, and while I don’t have the apoe4 gene (I’m apoe3/3) I have a strong family history of dementia. For the past several years my mother’s dementia has been gettin...

Re: Plasmalogens- exciting new evidence
I signed up for the Indiegogo campaign, also. Are there specific biomarkers I can be tracking to check for plasmalogen levels, other than a lipid panel?

Hope I'm not too late! I'd love to participate, as well. Might as well put all of these blood tests to use!

Re: Plasmalogens- exciting new evidence
Our proposed biomarker study will enable us to monitor all of the biomarkers utilized in this paper, plus give us access to a plasmalogen precursor supplement that raises levels. I’m hopeful that the NIH will see value in approving a grant that will help us move forward… Learning so much here! So e...

Re: Experiences with Low Dose Naltrexone
Thank you Tincup and JML for the information on obtaining LDN. I found a nearby naturopath who may prescribe it. I have an appointment to see her tomorrow. Fingers crossed that I won't be required to do a bunch of expensive out-of-pocket blood tests, etc, for it. I've already spent so much this year...

Re: Experiences with Low Dose Naltrexone
I've been curious about LDN for some time now. Reading Julie's and some others' comments has me wondering if it might help to relieve this recent flare of inflammation I've been dealing with. I could sure use some relief! I checked out the link that Tincup provided, but am wondering if there's a les...

Re: NR and NMN
I recently listened to Rhonda Patrick's interview with Sinclair. Sounds like he takes a full gram of NMN (also micronized resveratrol) powder every day. I used to take NR (along with pterostilbene) but never noticed much from it. Then again, I wasn't taking nearly the dose that Sinclair does. It's n...

Re: Xcode Life vs Promethease and other raw data analyzers
Thank you, Jmac! I had forgotten that I'd done Dr. Lynch's Strategene report a few years ago. I pulled it up just now but it doesn't seem to cover the Factor V Leiden gene (rs6025). I wonder if he's included it in more recent reports? It's been awhile since I've looked at the Strategene report. I re...

Brain Gauge from Cortical Metrics, anyone?
I just ran across this product called "Brain Gauge" from a company called Cortical Metrics. The website looks very professional and they appear to be using it in some clinics across the US. I searched the forums here but couldn't find it mentioned anywhere. Is anyone using this "Brain...
