Re: Get your probiotics from...apples?

I'm always fascinated when reading about the research done around the microbiome, especially because I tend to not tolerate probiotics very well. We know our ancient ancestors were not drinking kombucha or taking probiotics. And studies are showing that supplements do not have the same effects as w...

Re: What fish oil / DHA brand do you use?

I was out reading a bit last night online about DHA and the role it plays with APOE4. I came across a fairly recent article (http://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6338661/) that Rhonda Patrick submitted. She states in the abstract: "APOE4 carriers respond well to the DHA present in fish but ...

Re: Higher phosphatidylcholine protects against dementia

Thanks for sharing the link Julie! I evidently require the equivalence of 5 egg yolks per day. I typically get 1-2 but I do eat salmon, meat, fish, almonds and take phosphatidylcholine in supplement form. I started using phosphatidylcholine when I cut out egg yolk consumption just to make sure I'm g...

Re: Not interested in a keto diet

You guys are the best. Seriously, thank you so much. <3 I normally try to stay away from health forums as they can become very negative and anxiety-provoking incredibly fast, but the number of positive and reassuring attitudes here is astounding. I've never seen this type of message board where peo...

Re: I guess I'll be taking a statin

I agree completely on taking a coronary artery calcium scan. Overall your basic cholesterol numbers don't look bad at all. If your CAC score is zero then you have no plaque build up at all and I would resist taking a statin. There are some other things you can look at but a CAC is easy, cheap and gi...

He has also been a proponent of consuming a liter of olive oil per week but that didn't work for me given my APOE 3/4 status. So his recipes may not work particularly well for people who have trouble with high amounts of fat. SoCalGuy, Just saw this post and am confused about what you mean by this....

Re: confused about Gundry diet

My big focus was Apo B What is your APO B / Apo A-1 ratio? Ratios are typically more telling than an absolute number. I've been a Dr Gundry patient for a few years now, following his dietary advice. My Apo B level in isolation has always been on the high side, but he's never been concerned with tha...

Re: confused about Gundry diet

I'm reading Gundry's new book, the Longevity Paradox and getting more and more confused. In the first half of the book he makes a good case about animal protein and saturated fat being harmful, but the recipes are heavy on cheese and coconut milk with no substitutions listed. He spends time talking...

Re: Help understanding my lipid profile and statin choices?

New Lipid Profile. I ordered the cheapest NMR profile from Walkinlab, just got results. Which are bad. Attia and Dayspring say that LDL-P is the essential measure. Or Apo B, not measured in this test. TC is 243, high for me (10-year average 186) HDL-C is 38 (10-year average 31) LDL-P is high at 228...
