Re: 81 and still sane--I think!
Thank you Tincup and Circular for the info about resistant starch. I am not keen on cooking and usually make big batches of whatever I cook creating a week's worth of steelcut oats with blueberries and vegetable stews (including my favorite, potatoes) so I don't have to do major cooking too often. I...

Re: 81 and still sane--I think!
Circular, does the glycemic effect of potatoes that are cooked and cooled (left in the refrigerator over night) retain the resistant starch if you reheat them or must they be eaten cold?

Re: New ApoE 4/4- overwhelmed but coping
Hello Matilda, I'm an asymptomatic 4/4 and will be 82 this month. All the things we do to prevent AZ will help us prevent other health problems and stay in good general health as well. The fact you are following a pretty healthy lifestyle, practice yoga and keep yourself intellectually challenged is...

Re: Joining the conversation
You can certainly enjoy desert now. Just choose a healthful one. How great that you were able to retire from your stressful job and do work that you enjoy. I retired at 60 and will be 82 next month. I'm so glad I had all those years to do what I enjoy doing. Being in good spirits and enjoying your l...

Re: 81 and still sane--I think!
Welcome Arleeda. It is great having another person sharing being eighty one with me. I have two copies of APOE4. I also share your love of ice cream and Irish potatoes. I've done better giving up the ice cream than I have the potatoes. It sounds as if you have had and are continuing to have a very i...

Re: How many of us have Frank's Sign?
I'm an 81 year old 4/4 with Frank's sign on both ears. I would have said I didn't have it until I looked in the mirror. I just never noticed it. My right earlobe is way thicker than my left. A few earrings have too short a post for my thicker right earlobe. My thicker earlobe seems to look more like...

Re: Is there any hope after getting these results at age65?
Hello Scaredstiff1223, I found out I was an e4/e4 when I was 76 five years ago. I had been a yo yo dieter since I was 11. I'd weighed 255 pounds twice in my life. Learning I was an e4/e4 was a good motivator in getting me to keep my weight stable. Because I have ADD (attention deficit disorder) I go...
