Re: Notes from my Functional Medicine visit
Thanks, Julie. My treatment protocol for round one was herbal in nature: GI Synergy, Lauricidin, InterFase Plus, Saccharomyces boulardii, BroccoMax, and GastroMend-HP. Round two will be with Alinia and Carafate, which sounds like your super expensive meds. As to the h. pylori, it appears to be the s...

Re: Notes from my Functional Medicine visit
All, As a reminder I've been working through an h. pylori infection along with high metals. The first round of natural antibiotics did not solve the h. pylori infection. The FM wanted to check my wife to see if we were cross infecting. For the metals, I had my amalgams removed and started the detox ...

Re: Minimal pressure cooking times for deactivating/destroying lectins
Hi Matt, I can't answer your question but wonder about your experience. Could there have been something else that caused your diarrhea, like picking up a bug in some other manner? I know no one would want to repeat the experiment to confirm the outcome!

Re: What fish oil / DHA brand do you use?
I use Green Pasture Blue Ice Royal Butter Oil / Fermented Cod Liver Oil Blend - CINNAMON GEL in the morning and in the evening take 2 Now Foods Ultra Omega 3, Fish Oil Soft-gels, which contain 500mg EHA and 250mg DHA each. The Now brands don't give me any fish taste, aftertaste, or burps!

Re: Plants vs. Animals for Brain Health
Dr. Sarah Ballantyne wrote an interesting blog about meat and cancer that may be useful: "When we take a closer look at these studies, we see something extraordinarily interesting: the link between meat and cancer tends to disappear once the studies adjust for vegetable intake. Even more exciti...

I wish they would have separated out those with MTHFR for low or high homocysteine.

Re: More Education --> Less AD proven at Last?
I too wondered what the real relationship here is. A couple possibilities that I considered: 1) Is it possible that those with higher levels of education may have higher character strengths of Curiosity and Love of Learning that they continue to use throughout their lives (keep learning new things,...

Re: Zero calcium score - high lp(a)
What are your brother's test results? (Is he Nequals2Guy?) For Testosterone, I went down the TRT route. It felt great! But it didn't tell me why my T was low. I started seeing a functional medicine doctor who identified some other issues that may be impacting my hormone levels. I've started treatmen...

Re: Odd A1C/Insulin results
Julie - thank you for the reference. I looked up the lean mass hyper-responder. I'm close but not quite there. He's looking for LDL-C 200 mg/dl (5.2 mmol/l) or higher ---> max I've had is 187 but more typical is 110-130 HDL-C 80 mg/dl (2.1 mmol/l) or higher ---> max I've had is 100 but more typical ...
