Re: More info on why APOe4 may be worse for women-And what you can do about it.

Is there any evidence that tau accumulation is reversed by lifestyle changes embodied in RECODE, or are the improvments observed in early AD by following the Bredesen protocol compensatory to a fixed pathology?

New this year - intro and question

Last winter I was happy to find this web group and discover the wealth of information offered herein. Like many others, I have concerns about my risk of developing AD, having watched my mother’s struggles with her ever increasing confusion, anxiety and loss of autonomy leading up to her death at age...

Re: DISAPPOINTING RESULTS

Hi Roxanne, The low weight, high energy, sleeplessness, anxiety and increased blood pressure, as well as increased cholesterol, were all symptoms I experienced one year when I was hyperthyroid (too much thyroid hormone) - probably induced by stress. If you were taking T3, then you probably were unde...

Re: Why We Sleep, Matthew Walker

After reading this book, I added black-out shades to the bedroom windows and turned down the thermostat five degrees before bed. I also removed the clock from the bedroom in an effort not to stir up more concern about how many hours and minutes I have slept. These two articles may be of interest...i...

You may be interested in a discussion with Nir Barzilai, who carried out a small study of centenarians with a succinct gene pool, in which he noted healthy aging despite life style and APOE status. You may have won the genetic jackpot if your parents are both long-lived and aging with relatively goo...

Re: If you should choose to drink alcohol -- which is best?

I see no reason to ignore research that is more than five years old unless the methodology has improved or new scientific breakthroughs/insights have led to new testing methods or interpretations. Take a look at the recently discussed Bredesen paper citing research published in 1998. But I do take t...
