Re: New study examining the effect of APOE-ε4 knowledge

Oops, I re-read that there were 15 E4/E4 participants in the current study, rather than just 3 participants in the original REVEAL study.

Re: New study examining the effect of APOE-ε4 knowledge

Wonderful article, thank you so much for bringing it to us! So important not to discount the personal impact of one's E4 genetic discovery. I must admit I found it sobering and disconcerting that only 3 of the 26 participants were E4/E4 like myself, since E4/E4 carries a much higher risk. Deep breat...

Re: An opportunity to work with a health coach

Hello!!! Is this opportunity to work with a health coach still available? Since finding out my Apoe E4 status several weeks ago I think I am already backsliding on what I need to do to up my game from a basically health-centric lifestyle! Thank you!

Re: Thoughts on Disclosure? (Who have you told?)

What an amazing post, Tincup! I would wager that your tough, take no prisoners approach will serve you well for several decades to come. I plan to adopt your philosophy of not justifying your unconventional approach and not caring what others think, while at the same time generously contributing to ...

Re: Thoughts on Disclosure? (Who have you told?)

Thank you to Anna for broaching this tough topic of disclosure and to everyone for your congrats on my new grand baby! I have been thinking of this new being and realizing that I have substantial - and misplaced - guilt about bequeathing E4 to my children (for sure by definition they have at least o...

Re: Thoughts on Disclosure? (Who have you told?)

Thank you, NF52 and Searcher, for your wise and kind comments. In this country at least, an unfortunate aspect of our E4 status is that we need to be conscious of the real risks of disclosure - on top of the more obvious health and emotional concerns associated with simply living mindfully as E4 peo...

Re: Thoughts on Disclosure? (Who have you told?)

Wow, this topic of disclosure is so timely, but I am not surprised, since this community is so on top of our issues! My husband is supportive, and we both knew there was a good chance I would have at least one copy of E4. When I opened my 23andme results with him on the phone for support, I clicked ...

Re: Hello! I'm a brand new 4/4 member, scared but relieved and grateful to find you all!

Thank you for your kind and calm guidance, K! Panic is subsiding a bit. I have come to the conclusion that most of all I feel empowered knowing my 4/4 status.
