Re: Reporting Aboard
Great, Stavia. I'm following your lead. I was intrigued when I found this study though: http://www.lmreview.com/articles/view/omega-3s-apoe-genotype-and-cognitive-decline/ "Despite the disproportionately high prevalence of ApoE ε4, cardiovascular disease and diabetes among Native Americans, and...

Re: Intermittent fasting protocols to improve insulin control
Thanks everyone for the great advice. :) I did a 16 hour fast last night. I worked out the last hour (strength training) before breaking the fast. I wasn't particularly hungry but I was getting a bit light headed. My strength training was off but that may be more of the dietary changes than the fast...

Re: Reporting Aboard
Julie, you said any animal fat will affect small dense LDL particles in E4. That includes fish and eggs?

Re: Intermittent fasting protocols to improve insulin control
Marc and Maureen - that is very helpful. I will give the 16 hour fast a test trial. Are either of you testing your glucose or ketones using a personal monitoring system? Did you see any deltas as you experimented with the fasting protocols?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Intermittent fasting protocols to improve insulin control
Hi All, I'm looking to explore intermittent fasting to improve my insulin response. I'm E4/E4 with Glucose averaging 99 over the last several years and my HbA1c at around 5.5. I'm looking at the various protocols. One that I found in this study from 2005 http://jap.physiology.org/content/99/6/2128.s...

Thank you so much for your interpretation, Stavia. Yes, they coincided.
Likewise to Susan for the continued dialogue on MTHFR issues.

Re: Folic Acid inhibits Amyloid-beta ....
Hi Stavia, From what I've read, Folate is a necessary ingredient for creating platelets and red and white blood cells. One complication of Folate deficiency is anemia. I haven't found the exact biochemical discussion that shows where methylation comes in. Here are my markers since 2001. Those in red...

Re: Folic Acid inhibits Amyloid-beta ....
Susan, I really appreciate your insights! Very helpful. If having one of the MTHFR variants doesn't impact the folic acid to folate conversion, why are those of us who have variants are suggested to take methylated forms of vitamin B (B2, B6, B9, B12) ? Is it just to make it that much easier on our ...

Re: Reporting Aboard
Hill - good read. Kinda scary about the IRS-1 marker. Katie - ah yes, the Californian good life (some charges apply). I will never take Gabapentin again. I have no idea why it threw me for a loop - maybe somewhere in the methylation cycle ?!? For the moment I'm focusing in on dropping out the Satura...
