Re: Drinking Silica water prevents Alzheimer's in those with the APOE-E4 gene

Thanks Laurie, I drink ‘Water in a box’ which has 93.4 mg of silica per litre. Ten litres for $10. This is in New Zealand. Is this one okay?

Re: New article: A lymphatic waste-disposal system implicated in Alzheimer’s disease

Thanks ChipW. So maybe the function of the glymphatic system is not impacted on by hypnotics, but other studies I’ve read still suggest an overall adverse effect with respect to risk of AD with pharmaceutical treatments for insomnia. That’s unfortunate because I am still stuck using small doses of z...

Re: Too soon for Alzheimer's Prevention?

Great idea Julie.. Because it is succinct and Mum hasn’t said it, I am sending the list to my three adult children. I see the glazed look appear whenever I broach the health topic. Also I think a printed list for patients to take away would be a good idea. Much information during a consult is forgot...

Re: Dr. Steven Gundry with diet recommendations for ApoE4

Many thanks once again Theresa and Tincup for sharing your consults with Dr Gundry and labs. You are both especially kind to think of others while having the challenge of caring for a sick family member. In my country we don’t have the many lab tests you do. I still find it interesting though, and a...

Re: Can an ApoE4 fetus affect a non ApoE4 mother?

‘ It’s drawing a fairly long bow’ is an English idiom. Think Robin Hood. A large bow drawn by hand for shooting a long feathered arrow. To draw the longbow is an exaggeration. ‘It’s a long stretch ‘is a similar idiom.

Re: Non-diabetic low insulin maybe not so good?

I have only tested my fasting insulin 3 times in the last 2 years. First time 8.4, then after giving up bread, my beloved date loaf and porridge it was 5.3. A year ago and after I had unintentially lost weight it was 2. I did wonder at the time if it could get too low. I shall retest. Thankyou Julie...

Re: How much protein to eat?

Is it 2gm? Well guess I can do more then. I do feel better on higher protein. I think I’m gaining leg muscle from the twice weekly weight sessions (prolly not enough) but the weight dosnt change much. I recently ran half way around Panmure Lagoon with the granddaughters on their scooters. The 7 year...

Re: How much protein to eat?

Hi Stavia. I went back and checked my actual numbers, as I’m certainly no longer trying to restrict protein...I’m averaging 1.4-1.5g/kg, much higher than at the start of my “journey” when 1g/kg seemed to be standard fare. Thanks again Susan, regaining body mass after illness, or indeed any setback s...

Re: How much protein to eat?

Thanks Mike. I don’t have the luxury of risking 40 pounds, or even 4 pounds with a BMI around 19. Have decided that severe carb restriction is just too risky and as I never felt any better when I did achieve mild ketosis, it’s a low payoff strategy for me. I guess it just shows one recipe doesn’t wo...
