Re: High-Dose DHA May Lower AD Risk in E4 Carriers
Researchers found that runners who clocked more than 15.3 miles each week were 40% less likely to die from Alzheimer’s . Whenever I read a study with an endpoint other than all cause mortality (ACM), I wonder whether or not the observance or intervention lowered the endpoint by killing subjects in ...

Re: Dr. Stephen Phinney - Recent Developments in LCHF and Nutritional Ketosis
I'm skeptical of their claim that it shows one is losing weight, since I gained weight my first round in ketosis. Their meter would have suggested I'd be losing, but even if I was fat burning I was gaining due to my exercise limitations. Despite the physiological differences between fat and carb bu...

Re: Dr. Stephen Phinney - Recent Developments in LCHF and Nutritional Ketosis
I eat eggs as well...excellent nutrition source food. Apod, we have make a macronutrient LCHF bet balancing all cause risks. I'd rather skew towards more ancestral type plant based foods in moderation to achieve the 70% fat target. And I don't target every meal at target but for the day in totality....

Re: Dr. Stephen Phinney - Recent Developments in LCHF and Nutritional Ketosis
Now... getting up over 1 into the 1.5-3.0 mmol range without being interrupted by meals is some work. It was reassuring to hear that this diet limits SFA in the blood, although I do believe post-prandial triglycerides are somewhat off the chart. I'm not quite convinced that I can go to town on coco...

Re: Dr. Stephen Phinney - Recent Developments in LCHF and Nutritional Ketosis
Hugely interesting video posts, apod, thanks. Have you read his book? Some notable takeaways for me: 1. He's been on nutritional ketosis (NK) for 12 yrs, and "hasn't wasted away". 2. The brain is only glucose dependent when fed glucose. Brain perfectly happy utilizing beta hydroxybutyrate ...

Re: High-Dose DHA May Lower AD Risk in E4 Carriers
Duly noted, just wanted to reaffirm your comment that Gundry advised " at least 1000 mg/d of DHA ". I currently supplement 560 mg/d DHA, and 860 mg/d EPA, or 1420 m/d total DHA/EPA. Re the DHA papers obtained from the author in the thread, a Q&A relay: Q: Any recommendation for DHA/EPA...

Re: High-Dose DHA May Lower AD Risk in E4 Carriers
I "think" the study paper was simply of cohort investigation looking at correlation between serum DHA and amyloid load via brain imaging. (not an RCT of DHA/EPA intake) So Gundry recommends at least 1000 mg/day of JUST the DHA component? Not DHA/EPA combined? In the paper you mention, I fo...

Here are two overview papers on metals and AD pathogenesis. In summary they both discuss how iron dysregulation in the brain is associated with neurodegenerative decay, but NO causation proven . Therapeutics for Alzheimer’s Disease Based on the Metal Hypothesis (Tanzi & Bush 2008) https://www.nc...
