Re: Fasting Glucose
Well, wait and do what Stavia says, but... it looks to me like the numbers you posted for A/G ratio and CRP are great. A1C of 5.2 is not ideal, I guess, but I've never heard anybody call that high. And 9.2 for homocysteine I would put in the same class -- not optimal but not "high". Maybe ...

Re: Results from 1st bloodwork
Susan and Julie, thank you for the welcome and yes, great to be here! Susan, I get most of my protein from chicken, fish, non-fat Greek yogurt, eggs. Once in a while I buy beef or veal shank for soup and after the visible fat is cooked out and removed I have a few servings of beef that I enjoy. I us...

Re: Results from 1st bloodwork
PS -- This is all assuming that you and your medical person decide that lower LDL-P is your goal. I had some plaque already and decided to go that way. Plus I follow Bredesen's guidelines on this.

Re: Results from 1st bloodwork
Just wanted to share that I had LDL-P of 1560 (very near yours -- my testing service called it "borderline high") which came down to something like 983 ("optimal") by reducing saturated fat. No drugs. It has stayed in that neighborhood for several years. My HDL was also about the...

Re: Exaggerated ApoE4 lipid response to saturated fats?
That's a helpful post for me, Julie, I appreciate it. Back to Marc's original question, more or less (or at least heading in that general direction) -- I *think* that the conversations we had with Dr. Dayspring on here were the source of my own decision to step away from SFA in my diet. So maybe his...

Re: The Homocysteine/AD connection
Susan, that's a BEAUTIFUL number! Followed your suggestion to try TMG, started by adding it to a smoothie I make two or three times a week. Decided after seeing this to get a little more consistent with it. I have some BHMT variants and a hcy value stuck at 9.

Should be a scene in a remake of Sleeper. "And marijuana makes you smarter, it turns out."

New study on exercise, ketones, and BDNF
https://elifesciences.org/content/5/e15092 Mouse study, but encouraging and achievable. There is also an article today in the New York Times about it, but the author seems to actually discourage anyone from trying to act on the information. I find their coverage to be very defeatist when it comes t...

Re: Chronic Inflammation as a contributor to Alzheimer’s
It's still so worrisome that someone like you, keeping such a close eye on all these markers, wouldn't have been alerted to this by some doctor or other before now. Makes me want to go back and read the parts of the story again. A lot of us, I'm sure, have taken comfort from "good" inflamm...

Re: High HDL-C increases risk of CAD in the presence of low LDL???
Interesting. I would hate to find that that was true for most of us, as it would complicate life considerably, but I don't see a whole lot to take to heart from this, do you? The risk increase didn't amount to very much, it doesn't look like, and with these people being type 2 diabetics on statin th...
