Re: Sleep
Hi all, I just came across this study in JAMA Neurology (not open access, unfortunately), suggesting that slow-wave sleep is critical, especially for e4s over 60. Apoe4 is associated with a greater decline in slow-wave sleep and not enough slow-wave sleep is a modifiable risk factor for AD. Here's a...

Re: Red meat intake, 62% higher risk of type 2 diabetes
Please note that the study is not about a keto diet. It suggests that red meat increases your risk of diabetes significantly when combined with carbs. Substituting plant-based sources of protein--even dairy sources of protein--together with carbs decrease your risk of type 2 diabetes. Here's a press...

Re: Red meat intake, 62% higher risk of type 2 diabetes
The end point of red meat eating would be combining meat with carbs. I assume the carnivores are not consuming many carbs. If that is true, they are indeed on pause from diabetes. Fat inside muscle cells prevents glucose from getting into the muscle cells, causing blood sugar levels to rise. Lower ...

Re: Red meat intake, 62% higher risk of type 2 diabetes
I don't eat red meat, so I'm not biased in favor of consuming it. In fact I'm a pescatarian. However, I'm not a fan of food frequency questionnaire as the basis for studies. I think they are pretty weak. In my life, I know quite a few carnivores, which would be the endpoint of red meat eating . I'v...

Re: New to this APOE4 Mitigation and new to this forum - but see all of the knowledge and compassion of others I've read
Hello, I am a 57 year old female with a mother that currently has 24/7 care due to her Alzheimers (she is APOE 4/4 - we just found out earlier this year), and I manage her care. I have tried to start the Apollo Health/ Bredesen approach with my Mom earlier this year, but she was not interested, and...

Thanks, Susan. From what I'm reading online, Pregnenolone also helps.
