Re: New paper from Dr. Gundry on stopping progression of CAD
It seems odd to me that PON1 does not seem to have been discussed in assessing effects of gylphosate and other organophosphate chemicals, as it is the body's main defense. I haven't read Gundry's Plant Paradox book, but I see from a summary online https://gundrymd.com/deadly-disruptors-plant-paradox...

Re: New paper from Dr. Gundry on stopping progression of CAD
Pomegranate juice (PJ) polyphenols have a specific transcriptional role in hepatocyte PON1 expression upregulation, and its secretion to the medium. We conclude that the anti-atherogenic characteristics of PJ polyphenols are modulated, at least in part, via hepatocyte PON1 upregulation and its subs...

Re: New paper from Dr. Gundry on stopping progression of CAD
I checked my PON1 status on selfdecode.com with 23andMe data loaded. rs662, rs854571, rs854555 (risk allele A), rs4242382 (risk allele A), rs2057681 (risk allele G). PON1 is more important than PON2 and PON3, I understand. Oxidised-lipids are the major cause of inflammation and are responsible for t...

Re: New paper from Dr. Gundry on stopping progression of CAD
I hesitate to wade into the debate that has been going on here for some time about leaky gut allegedly caused by lectins or gluten or glyphosate, all leading to toxins crossing the blood-brain barrier and causing neuroinflammation leading to neurodegeneration such as AD. Each of us is entitled to do...

Re: New paper from Dr. Gundry on stopping progression of CAD
Dr Gundry apparently again misunderstands the PREDIMED study and promotes an unsubtantiated dosage of extra-virgin olive oil. In this report he prescribed 1 liter of EVOO per week per PARTICIPANT. But PREDIMED used 1 liter EVOO per FAMILY per week. It is possible the extra dosage of EVOO is benefici...

Re: HeartMath
HRV is between R waves, but the signal must be filtered to exclude all but normal sino-atrial beats, and there are various algorithms to quantify the signal. I am not familiar with HealthMath or other than Elite HRV, which I use with a Polar 10 Bluetooth chest strap monitor and with Android. An expl...

Re: Current best APOE genetic test?
I'll put in a plug here for GeneMatch, a service of Banner Alzheimer's Institute, where you can get a free test for Apoe. https://www.endalznow.org/GeneMatch It connects volunteers with Alzheimer's prevention studies in the US. The catch is that they don't tell you your status, only refer you or not...

Re: Generations 1 Update
Wow, thanks lol for the update. Your observation about dental plaque is interesting. I have noticed that ome have associated inflammatory gum disease, peridontitis or gingivitis, with Alzheimer's Disease incidence. See, from 2015, "Association between Periodontitis and Alzheimer's Disease"...

Re: Sleep!
More light in evening for bedtime 9 or 10 and 3mg melatonin (not sustained release) when I awaken at 4 has worked for me to delay sleep cycle and get 7-8hr sleep. Melatonin at bedtime didn't work. BTW, I am fast caffeine metabolizer.

Re: New finding that lentils can lower blood glucose levels
Small green lentils as well as red also had a similar positive effect on glucose in this study, but other studies have shown considerable inter-subject variability in glucose response to various carbohydrate. That seems to depend on how it is prepared (chilling can lead to conversion to resistant ca...
