Re: Stavia's Vegetarian very low fat trial
I appreciate your honest discussion and your passion. Huge ditto on that. Even a group as astonishingly open and friendly as ours risks falling into groupthink, and if we ever did fall into total groupthink, we'd need a bit of a slap to get us out of our dogmatic slumber. The fact that you, Swamp, ...

Re: How Nutrition Can Reverse Disease and the Impact of Lectins – Dr. Steven Gundry (Bulletproof Radio)
Please everyone adhere to the code of conduct and critique the science not the man. I would like to see his data, but the fact that it isnt peer reviewed doesn't automatically make it suspect. I would strongly agree with a minor variant on that: The fact that it isn't peer reviewed doesn't automati...

Re: How Nutrition Can Reverse Disease and the Impact of Lectins – Dr. Steven Gundry (Bulletproof Radio)
Swamp, I agree strongly with Theresa that Gundry's not being mainstream is irrelevant. The bone – a huge one – I have to pick with Gundry is that when I go to PubMed and search Gundry SR[Author] nothing about lectins comes up. "Yeah, but he's too busy helping patients to do studies and get them...

Re: Unkind labs with keto diet - where to go from here?
G, my guess is that you’ve probably looked into this more from an academic perspective that I have. Basically, people who eat less and move more don’t become metabolically inflexible. Thanks, Julie, and pardon the lack of precision in my formulation of the question. I'm familiar with pathological m...

Re: Stavia's Vegetarian very low fat trial
Stavia, first, sorry about the stress in your life. About your experiment: brava! I was on a low-fat, low-calorie vegetarian diet for years, and did wonderfully. (But I suspect strongly it was the low-cal component thta conferred benefits.) But I decided I had to gain weight mostly because of sleep ...

Re: Unkind labs with keto diet - where to go from here?
Julie, very wise points!
I did some digging a while back to find scientific evidence to support the merits of metabolic flexibility per se, and didn't find anything. Do you have any studies, or even medical hypothesis-esque papers on this?
Thanks,
Brian

Re: Unkind labs with keto diet - where to go from here?
Swamp, thanks for your continued words of caution. For the record, I'm unaware of anyone here who eats a lot of protein, but that only speaks to one of your points. I assessed the research a while back and concluded the safest bet, both for longevity in general, and for dementia avoidance, was a low...

I see the SNPedia link to our wiki is bad. Let me knowCarriers are referred [from SNPedia] to Julie Gregory’s ApoE.Info website for support.

Re: ApoE4 VOCABULARY
Our BOD will be addressing the visibility of the wiki, in general, at our next meeting, post-SD. Thanks for all of the input, team. Much appreciated. Thanks, Julie (and everyone). Some background that might be helpful: https://forums.apoe4.info/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=3289 With hopes for a wonderf...
