Re: Study: Neuroticism, Long-Time Stress Linked To Alzheimer
And herein lies a conundrum! Not getting neurotic about preventing AD! :? Teezer is it possible your mom had AD but it started late enough that she died of other causes (stroke) or old age before getting to the point of not recognizing you? Of course, it could just be another form of dementia as you...

Re: Help us tweak a consensus statement on diet
Another thing I did recently was get a nutribullet. You just throw a bunch of greens, some fruit, water or other fluids, nuts and other add-ins, blend and go :-) I've learned though I have to microwave the frozen fruit or it's too hard and can loosen the rubber ring that keeps it from leaking. Kind ...

Re: Help us tweak a consensus statement on diet
I don't do much cooking myself. Mostly I use a steamer (easy, quick to clean and healthy!) and a stovetop Breville oven for baking (maybe just mental but seems a lot easier than using an oven, but I got it originally to save my back). I eat a lot of canned sardines and pay extra for the ones I like ...

Re: Genealogy and ApoE4
Hmmm, good points WA! I like the gene manipulation part. I suppose we should start tracking our preventive lifestyle habits now to show the ins cos we've been making the necessary epigenetic adjustments for years!

Re: Gut microorganisms and the brain ...
SussnJ thank you, that would be really helpful. I have wonky heterozygous BDNF gene too, and I'm one of the one who can't use progesterone, although Juliegee says I may be able to after a while and I will try.

Gut microorganisms and the brain ...
It's probably too early to recommend a specific probiotic for specific brain effects (fermented foods may be the best option), but I found this article interesting: "Gut Bacteria Might Guide The Workings Of Our Minds" http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2013/11/18/244526773/gut-bacteria-might-...

Re: Vietnam Head Injury Study and Genetic Variants
JulieAnnie, you're a great example of why we must not overreact to news on one SNP, and with all the new info coming out about dietary interventions working for people with risk alleles (though needs a lot more research!), perhaps just living a healthy life and forgetting the gene results is as good...
