Re: New Biomarkers for long term detection? Gfap Ltbp2
I saw this article in the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/feb/12/early-blood-test-to-predict-dementia-is-step-closer-as-biological-markers-identified regarding some new biomarkers in blood that appear to be able to predict AD 10 years before symptoms. The four proteins they measur...

Re: fasting glucose and a1c
The Wiki says this HgbA1c (Glycated hemoglobin) also known as HbA1c or just A1c, gives you an indication of your average glucose over the past 1-2 months and is better than a spot check of your glucose. It is helpful to know the hemoglobin A1c, the fasting insulin, and the fasting glucose, since th...

Re: Modifiable risks and APOE 4/4
Im APOE 4/4 and 23andMe said having a 4/4 gives you a 28% chance of contracting it by 75, 50% by 85. Does following the practices Dr. Attia promotes decrease the risk to normal level? Assuming the majority of those with the 3/4 and 4/4 that get AD did not take any preventable measures such as exerc...

Re: Labcorp's p-tau 181 pricing
I had the test done p-tau 181 it cost 300.00 at labcorp and I had 42/40 ratio test done @ 300.00 at quest which I recommend. Insurance cover it. I’m going to get the other test done p-tau 217 . I’m a 3/4. Thanks Tony. Hi Tony, Thanks for sharing your experience with Labcorp's P-tau 181 blood test, ...

Re: ACE trial: Arterial Stiffness, Cognition and Equol
Those who want to enroll may want to ask if the MRI uses a gadolinium contrast agent. Here is an FDA FDA Drug Safety Communication on these agents. Also one from a researcher at the University of New Mexico. I happen to be in a couple of groups where some group members are doing multiple repeat 30 ...

The ACE trial: Arterial Stiffness, Cognition and Equol may be of interest to those concerned about vascular contributions to brain aging and cognitive impairment , if you live near Pittsburgh PA, Winston-Salem, NC or Atlanta, GA and are between 65 and 85. That's about it for inclusion criteria, alth...

Re: AHEAD 3-45 STUDY CLINICAL TRIAL (LECANEMAB - BAN 2401)
I am in week 124 of the Ahead 3 study and just received and signed a revised Informed consent form yesterday for the study which includes two new provisions. The first is the option of a 2 year open label extension (treatment with Lecanemab) if you complete the study. The second is a 2 year open la...

Re: APOE 4/4 - Wisdom on telling siblings/children
I'm looking for thoughts and wisdom on a subject I think about often but with no solid answers. I'm in an APOE 4/4 in a large family with no family history of dementia*. I have five siblings in their 50s/60s and 2 kids in their 20's. None of them have had DNA tests as far as I can tell, but my kids...

Re: APOE 4 testing other than 23 and me or DCL(Direct consumer labs)
Hi all APOE sisters and brothers, I have a quick question about APOE 4 testing? What platform are you using for APOE4 testing? I ask this especially after the 23 and me breach in security and for clients that do not want to use direct consumer labs because of insurance and long-term-health concerns...
