I know we've spoken about extending our stay for one day just to socialize, but if I am successful in getting Dr. Mark Mattson (no response yet,) would folks be willing to give up a part of our "play" day to meet with him? How many are planning to stay the extra day? I'm hesitant to push for his attendance if we have too small of a group...
It would be a "play" day for me to meet with him!!

Hey Friends, I've just updated our 2017 Meet-up announcement. I'm still working on an additional speaker for 8/6, Sunday afternoon, to ensure max attendance. Stand by for more info and don't forget to signup for group meals using the promo code in that thread.

Quick update, I just heard from Dr. Mattson. Unfortunately, he's got commitments on the 5th and 7th that will prevent him from joining us. He very kindly offered to do a video or Skype lecture for us. I will try to take him up on some type of collaboration. I'm also going to continue to push for E4 human studies with either he or Dr. Longo (or both.) I'm convinced that fasting is likely to end up being one of our most effective strategies for avoiding both AD and CVD as it addresses multiple defects of our risky genotype, but we need human trials to gather evidence. So many of us are already practicing this strategy, it would be great to join forces to try to put something together.

Can anyone think of another speaker for that Sunday, 8/6, afternoon?

Does anyone have an email address or other way of contacting Dr. Rhonda Patrick? I could ask Dr. Krauss... EDIT: Russ came up with: info@found.fitness.com. He's approached her on our behalf with no success in the past :( . I'm crossing my fingers and toes. She'd be great for a round table discussion on Sunday night...

We might want to start a separate thread on this but, in brief: I agree quite strongly, as I'm sure you know. And THANK YOU for pushing for this. Let me know how I (or others) can help.

I'll post elsewhere, but I'm doing a Longo cyclical protocol on myself as we speak - implementing what he describes in his patents on myself. My objective is stem cell activation.

Not sure if anyone was able to get this for you but I may be able to contact her for you. Can you private message me your preferred contact info and your question regarding her speaking verbatim? I have asked her two questions on her pattern member site and she has responded within 48 hours so you never know.

Thanks, LG1. I did hear back from Dr. Patrick. Unbeknownst to me, she's expecting her first child that week and will sadly not be able to join us. She has a great excuse though :D. She mentioned that she's submitting a new ApoE4 paper soon. Once it's accepted for publication, she'll begin posting about it.

I'm still on the lookout for a Sunday afternoon speaker for us... If anyone has an idea, let me know.

I'm still thinking about a speaker for our Sunday, 8/6, dinner which will either have to be in a private room at a nearby restaurant or catered in a conference room at the Wyndham. I recently heard Dr. Ann Hathaway's amazing lecture on HRT and Alzheimer's at the IFM conference. I think she'd be an excellent speaker for us. She's agreed to peruse our 43+ page HRT thread and incorporate ApoE4 studies into her evidence based talk. We could also ask her to examine the andropause evidence. I continue to think this is significant, but dramatically understudied. Please weigh in on Dr. Hathaway for our Sunday speaker.

On another note, social media giant, Ivor Cummins, revealed yesterday that he's an ApoE4 carrier. That was new to me. He'll be at the conference, but probably will be planning to leave Sunday night. Should we try to plan a lunch or one of the dinners with him? He could simply join our table if we invite him in advance.

Someone recently asked about the schedule for the LowCarb event. You can see it here. Remember, our speakers aren't listed and will begin their talks in the main ballroom at 6:15PM. You can see that schedule here. Dinner on site follows at 7:30PM.

Lets talk about the dinners. There will be no formal speakers so that attendees can relax and socialize, but tables will be broken into themes to better facilitate networking among experts and attendees. We’ll obviously be the ApoE4/Alzheimer’s themed table. The meals are pricey and served late, but provide the advantage that we don’t have to travel, can all be together, and network with others that share our concerns or may be able to offer our community direction. They will be served buffet style and offer lots of vegetables and wild-caught seafood (specifically per my request) as well as other more traditional low carb options. You can register for all three here and receive a $30 discount by using the code “signup.” Our other option would be to commute to a nearby restaurants and eat together or even break into small groups. Please share your thoughts.

Finally, we need to plan our “play day” on Monday, 8/7!!! After several days of being cooped up listening to lectures, it will be wonderful to share some unstructured time to socialize. We could tour the San Diego Zoo as a group. I’ve been. It’s amazing. I’ve also identified some cool tours. Please let me know which, if any, look promising.
