Hi Lees4u and welcome. I look forward to meeting you in August. Yes it is extremely overwhelming now but I promise it gets easier with time.

Juliegee wrote:Thanks for weighing in, LG1! I'm still working on our speaker schedule. I finally heard back from Dr. Longo yesterday. Unfortunately, he won't be able to join us due to his travel schedule. He'll be in Europe during this conference. I was already planning to ask Dr. D'Agostino to join us for one of our slots. I'd also like to include Dr. Georgia Ede, if possible, as she's very well versed in the Type-3 aspect of AD, especially the reduced cerebral glucose metabolism in inherent in E4s. I see her and Dr. D'Agostino as complimenting one another.

To honor our attending members' desire for a fasting/longevity speaker, I'd like to suggest that we follow up on G's recommendation to ask Dr. Mark Mattson. He comes at this from a neurology perspective with an impressive body of work and focus on this area. Shall I proceed with an invitation?

We already have Dr. Mary Kay Ross (CIRS) and DaveKeto (Cholesterol/Hyper-responder) on our roster. I'm sorry that you're not interested in CIRS, LG1. Feel free not to attend the session. I'm still open to including Dr. Desikan in some capacity, perhaps for a lunch. I'm completely over my fear of uncovering more "bad" genes. I've gotten tons of supposedly negative genetic risk information to date and have been able to use it to more effectively personalize and address my very high risk. Dr. Desikan is in the SFO area and could easily drive up to join us if he's willing. Are LG1 and I the only members who are interested in meeting with him?
Dr. Mattson looks great and I follow Dr. Ede and DaveKeto on Twitter, also great. If another person is interested I say why not ask .Dr. Desikan! If he can't, perhaps his co-researcher might be interested.

In case no one knows who Dr. Desikan is, here is a link to the relevant study: http://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/a ... ed.1002258

While I sincerely respect the individual views of each member, I tend towards your feeling on this Julie. For me, knowledge is power!

Thanks for your continued and tireless efforts organizing these things for us. :)

Thank you for the welcome!

He is a Doctor of Pharmacy, who also does Keto.

How nice that you have his expertise and support, Lees4ut. We look forward to spending time with you both in San Diego.

LG1, I have a great idea. Since you and I are the only ones who've expressed interest in meeting with Dr. Desikan, why don't we invite him to join us for a dinner in LA during the Dynamic Brain Conference? He's located there and it will be much less of an imposition for him. We also have our speaker slots for the LowCarb event filling up fast...

Today, I'm reaching out to Drs. Mattson, D'Agostino and Ede. We only have 4 slots for our evening talks and 5 invitees (two confirmed.) If we end up with one additional speaker, we could arrange either a lunch or a round table dinner discussion.

Julee.
I agree reaching out to Dr. Mattson and appreciate the other speakers you have arranged for the Lo Carb convention. .
i will be at the Dynamic Brain Conference with my best friend and fellow doc. We would like to join you for dinner or lunch with Dr. Mattson.
How best to be in touch with APOE4 brothers and sisters in LA? Do we have anything set up so far?

I agree with you about being less afraid of my genetics. I'm not tippy toeing anymore either. More information is more power. I have just found out I may have Siterosteroemia. Rather than say anymore about that here. I will start a new tag About this.

Look forward to meeting you in LA!

Betty

PS Enjoyed all the social media buzz last week and posting on Igor's site. I just tuned in and also watched the Gundry lecture that was posted. Good for you, Stavia and APOE4info, getting us more visable! Appreciated Dr. Gundry making the point of how everyone should be tested.

Sounds good but I am a bit concerned that it might be a waste of time since his paper is useless to us without one knowing their snps and we never figured out how to find them all. I have asked J11 how they did it as they claim and am not satisfied I ever received an answer to that question in full, unfortunately. Or it could be I was just unable to figure out the information from the info they provided... extensive! If someone else has been able to I am unaware of it as they didn't post in the relevant thread.

Please inform me if you think otherwise or if you think I am mistaken. While I am extremely interested in his work, I feel like the paper speaks for itself unless he has some way of testing us himself. Maybe worth a phone call to him to see what he thinks but I'll leave it up to you.

My birthday is Friday, June 2. I have plans to Uber over to West Hollywood and have dinner with my daughter who recently moved out there. I hope that does not end up being the evening I miss someone like Dr. D'Agostino! ... not sure we were asking him to dinner anyway but would hate to miss.

BettyLacy, in the other thread, we've discussed meeting in the lobby @ 4PM on Wed, 5/31. Registration and an opening reception starts at 4:30PM. It would be fun to navigate that together. As the date draws closer, I'll try to send out a group PM so that we can exchange cell numbers. I'm really looking forward to it!

LG1, ah- thanks for that additional info about Dr. Desikan. Since there's just two of us interested in LA, I'm tempted to not even try to set up a meeting. I hope you and J11 can continue to correspond with him via email. If you think you get to a point where he has information that may be of broad interest to the group, we could invite him to come on the forum as a guest expert.

To clarify, we're hoping to meet up with Dr. D'Agostino in San Diego in August. Once all of the speakers are firmed up, we'll clearly post who's speaking when so no one misses out. I love that you're a fellow Gemini! We can celebrate your birthday week in LA :D

Sounds awesome, thanks Julie. Love our sign I have to say it's the best. Might be a bit biased.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Quick update: Our speaker schedule is still in flux- re. who speaks on what day- but we have firmed up Dr. Dominic D'Agostino,, Dave Feldman, Dr. Georgia Ede, and Dr. Mary Kay Ross (Dr. Bredesen's CIRS specialist.)

I know we've spoken about extending our stay for one day just to socialize, but if I am successful in getting Dr. Mark Mattson (no response yet,) would folks be willing to give up a part of our "play" day to meet with him? How many are planning to stay the extra day? I'm hesitant to push for his attendance if we have too small of a group...

We will be there that extra day and would be willing to give up part of our play day.
