Employment Opportunity at XPRIZE

Post by Julie G »

Hi Friends. If you’ve had a chance to read our Annual Report, you know that we were invited to participate in this year’s XPRIZE, an annual contest to solve a global crisis. Our focus, along with Dr. Bredesen, was to demonstrate reversal of cognitive decline with the strategies that many of us regularly employ. Another Alzheimer’s team had the goal of creating an easily accessible biomarker that could help identify Alzheimer’s earlier. They won the Alzheimer’s division and… the whole thing. You can read about the top five contenders here. Even better, philanthropists have donated 25 million to aid the winning team. This is amazing news for all of us, as earlier identification for the disease can provide the opportunity for earlier intervention.

Our XPRIZE friends are now asking for our help again. They are looking to hire a Senior Director of Health and has asked that we post the job opening. You can read more about it here.
Our Senior Director/Domain Lead for Health is a physician or researcher, passionate about innovation and driving breakthroughs and impact in the medical and health field. She/He is responsible for helping select prize areas, supporting the design of the prizes, setting budgets, driving the structure and timelines of prize(s), interfacing with sponsors and partners, and assembling subject matter experts and judges.

Requirements

* MD or Ph.D. in a health-related area (Cancer, Autoimmune etc.)
* Experience running and managing a team
* Experience in Program Management and executing large projects, including budgets, managing staff, engaging stakeholders, and driving deliverables
* Formidable strategic planning skills and experience
* Strong design-thinking skills including empathy, evaluation skills, inductive reasoning, and the ability to iterate and fail forward

* A passion for Moonshots and change
* Based in Los Angeles (or willing to relocate to LA)
If you are interested or know someone who might be, please share this opportunity. I’d be happy to write a letter of introduction for anyone who’d like to apply. They are especially interested in candidates with at least a personal focus on Alzheimer's.
