I would be willing to participate depending on what it entails. Is there travel? How long? I have 2 copies of the ApoE4. I am 46. I dont know if it matters but I had kidney cancer last year- they consider me "cured" at this point but dont know if it would disqualify me.

Hello MindyV and welcome to the ApoE4 forum. Thank you for indicating your interest in the biomarker study. I am not sure of the status of this study opportunity at this point as Julie G created this post last March and commented in June that it was a poll to determine interest. Nancy is a senior support person here on the forum and, more importantly, is a wealth of information. She has responded with this post to those who have indicated their interest in this study.
In case you haven't explored the site too much, I wanted to direct you to some resources that are helpful. You may appreciate taking a look at the primer as it is a great place to start and written by a physician in laymen's terms. There is also a "How-To" Guide that makes your journey around the site much more efficient. You may be interested in checking out the "Our Stories" forum to share your own story and learn about fellow members. Finally, I've found the search function to be an awesome way to research questions you may have as most likely, someone has asked the question before and there are several threads of information regarding that topic.
Again, welcome to the community. Please don't hesitate to tell us a little about yourself in the "Our Stories" and continue commenting on posts! We love active members!

Dear K8flan,

Welcome to the APoE4 website! And thank you for all the interesting videos you have posted on another thread, I'll be sure to check them out. It would be great to know a little it more about you and your background, please feel free to introduce yourself on the "Our Stories" Forum!

In the meantime, here are a few handy links that you might want to have a read of.

The first is the "how-to" section of the Wiki, which is a great user-friendly guide on how to make the most of the website.

And the second is the Primer, a fantastic document to get to grips with the complexities of the APoE4 gene and its effects.

Warm regards
Flo

Welcome, Kate!

As a Senior Support Team member, and someone with ApoE 4/4 who has participated in an Alzheimer's prevention clinical drug trial for cognitively healthy people with ApoE 4/4 between the ages of 60 and 75 (the Generations trial), I want to applaud you for your interest in this study opportunity. At this point, the study has not been started; the post was an introductory effort to gauge interest.

For clinical trials that are or will soon be recruiting people your age, there are several options. Some are "observational" trials, looking at online or in-person data from thousands of people to learn more about healthy aging and better identify which indicators of change may be most important to track. Some of those may share information with participants; others may share some, but not all. More and more, study sponsors are realizing that people want to be active participants and gain as much information as possible while participating in a trial, so expect to find more, rather than less information as new trials begin.

Here are some that might be of interest to you:

The All of Us Research Program is sponsored by the National Institute of Health: All of Us is
inviting one million people across the U.S. to help build one of the most diverse health databases in history. We welcome participants from all backgrounds. Researchers will use the data to learn how our biology, lifestyle, and environment affect health. This could help them develop better treatments and ways to prevent different diseases.

The Alzheimer's Association spends millions each year to support research on prevention and treatment of AD, and has a Trial Match of studies that include non-drug trials. You can read more here:
Trial Match

The Alzheimer's Clinical Trial Consortium (ACTC) is a network of dozens of academic research centers collaborating to accelerate research, with funding from the National Institute on Aging (NIA/NIH). They have an online Alzheimer's Prevention Trial web study called for people who are 50 years or older. You can find information about it here: APT Webstudy Welcome (Full disclosure: I am on the Research Participant Advisory Board for the ACTC, although I am not in any ACTC-sponsored clinical trial.)

To search for clinical trials (large and small) by your region, try the advanced search function on the NIH Clinical Trials website. Each trial has detailed information about its purpose, the criteria to join and contacts for study sites. Clinical Trials.gov

Enjoy learning more about clinical trials and thank you again for joining our community!

Hi joseph,

The poll is currently closed, and the study idea has been put on hold. You may want to read my reply right above your post, to see some other options for studies. Hope this helps.

Hi rufus4me,

Welcome to the apoe4 forum! Thank you for posting and for your interest in a study opportunity!

It looks like the Biomarker Study poll is currently closed, and the study idea has been put on hold. You can find an update here from a previous post by NF52, one of our Senior Support Team members. NF52 shared some helpful information with links to other possible options.

I am not sure if you've had a chance to look around the site, but you might be interested in a few sections to get started. The primer was written by a member physician and is a great introduction to ApoE4. Also, I have found the information in the How-To guide to be a big help with getting the most out of the site. Finally, you may want to check out Our Stories where you can share a little about yourself as well as learn about what brought others here.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Again, welcome rufus4me!
Warm regards,
AKA

You have to pay monthly to be in this study?
