Hello
I would like to ask if anyone has a recommended COVID vaccine for my APOe4/4 status. I have Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy, as well as a previous haemorrhagic stroke.
In Australia, we have the Pfizer and AstraZenaca COVID vaccine options.
Grateful
Ange E

Between those two I would go Pfizer. I don’t know Astra Zeneca’s delivery system, but Pfizer uses mRNA, no adjuvant. It’s the adjuvant that usually the mischievous maker for ApoE4s. FYI, Moderna also uses mRNA. My husband (3/4) had Pfizer, I (4/4) had Moderna with no issues.

Hello
I am wondering if anyone in this community is concerned about the experimental nature of this vaccine, or the lack of long -term evidence. Both my naturopath and my health care advisor really scared me, and suggested things to help my system cleanse, as I have already had a first dose of the Moderna vaccine. There is also hx. of massive brain stem stroke in my history, but 20 years ago ..
Thank you so much, any feedback is appreciated!

Hi Erin, and welcome to the site. Yes, there is a lot of concern about the vaccine; there has been some lively conversation about the COVID-19 vaccine on other threads here. If you are interested in reading them, which I encourage you to do, you can find them by typing “vaccine” into our website Search. You access that via the magnifying glass to the left of your user name near the top of the page.
There are many opinions; you’ll have to weigh information and risks associated with your various options and decide on the best course for yourself.
Best wishes to you!

Hi erin paxton, welcome to the forum!

There has been a great deal of discussion over vaccines in the forum. To poke around some more, you can use the Search Tool to find topics and posts that interest you as floramaria mentioned in her post. We'd also love to hear more about your journey with ApoE4. A great place to get started sharing is the board called Our Story.

Let us know if you would like anymore information regarding ApoE4, we're happy to help!

For me — and I think the approach needs to be based on individual health history with serious input from any relevant specialists on one's healthcare team — I decided not to overthink the vaccine issue; ie, it would be overthinking it for me to delve too deeply, given my personal perspective, but not necessarily for someone else to do so. The Covid-19 virus itself is a disaster of an "experiment" to humanity and also poses high risk to me individually given my history of CFS/ME (ie, I see myself as at high risk of "long Covid," which could devastate my life, which is already rather devastated by five years of caregiving following on the heels of my first long bout of CFS/ME). That's all I need to know to weigh the risks vs rewards.

Your history of massive brain stem stroke strikes me as highly significant. I'd be interested in what the relevant conventional specialist would say, since I would think that a Covid infection itself might exacerbate any remaining stroke risk? There's no reason you can't take functional medicine approaches to supporting your system while also getting vaccinated. I don't know if that's the right answer for you. I'm just offering some food for thought.
