Yes Julie, that is what I was expecting. But after reading the Duke link, which references the lead investigator, it seems it's the same scan with a different focus on the vasculature rather than signs of plaque.

I'm also surprised by the curcumin.

The curcumin doesn't actually light up, but it does bind to the amyloid deposits and it will glow when an ultraviolet light is used to view the retina with "a modified scanning laser ophthalmoscope." Sounds expensive. I would do the test if I could find it near me on the East Coast. Even as just a baseline for future comparison. Of course, I will keep in mind that the presence of amyloid does not necessarily prove that cognitive decline is taking place. Some folks function just fine with their amyloid load and science is still figuring out how that is possible.
