It might be worth getting a new 23andme report using your existing data, to take advantage of software updates that might pick up more information. I did that a while back at no additional cost.

23andme showed I’m homozygous on the first SNP. It didn’t show the second SNP, but I guess I can assume it’s also homozygous.

I was genotyped just last month at 23andme on their new v5 chip and I was told this was not included. It's frustrating they would report APOE but not include the genes that might modify its effect.

Thank you for taking time to join this discussion. I can certainly understand your frustration in not having access to the APOE information you had hoped to receive, especially with updated versions of the 23andme report.
While I am not versed in the technicalities of this topic, I am sure there are other members who will respond with some helpful information!

The Primer is a detailed and informative resource written by a practicing M.D. with ApoE4/4. It includes information about the biochemistry of the ApoE4 gene and offers a variety of research-based prevention strategies.

The How-To Guide offers tips on how to navigate forums and respond to posts including how to quote members (use the quotation icon in the upper right of any post) so they get an email notification of your post. It also demonstrates how to use the Search function for topics, and how to subscribe to topics of interest in the forums.

Finally, Our Stories includes stories of other community members. You may wish to share more about your own journey in this forum, if you feel comfortable doing so.

Curious if you checked the raw data, or just their health reports?

I haven't tried this recently, but in the past, including earlier this year, it was possible to provide Promethease.com with log in info for your 23&Me account, and they provide a lot more genetic information. You'd be able to do a search of their results. Hope that helps!

I checked the raw data (and also searched for the SNP on Prometheus) and then reached out to 23andme support.

I have found Promethease to be really unreliable; ie, a number of times the result Promethease shows is not the same as what is in my 23andMe raw data. I trust 23andMe more, so I never go with Promethease results anymore. I check my 23andMe raw data, and if they don't cover something, I take Promethease with a grain of salt.

thanks, circ. I am sorry to read another bad review of Promethease. I found it helpful when I ran results through, but I took what they reported at face value and never double-checked for accuracy .
