For those interested, this article does a nice job of explaining the interaction between gingipains (secreted by bacterium P. gingivalis) and the APOE4 protein. (summary: gingipains love to chomp on E4 proteins but will not eat E2 proteins) Ongoing ph3 clinical trial is testing the drug that inhibits gingipains, seems very relevant to E4s who like to follow some new ideas in the science of fighting Alz.
