Great job. I'm so pleased to hear your progress.
ApoE 4/4 - When I was in 7th grade, my fellow students in history class called me "The Brain" because I had such a memory for detail. I excelled at memorization and aced tests. This childhood memory helps me cope!

That is great news!
Re: New RU442
Had cardio appt. today, basically he said keep doin' what your doin', and go see lipidologist. Pleasantly surprised as he referred me to his "college" Dr. Alan Brown, who happens to be the Chief of Cardiology at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital here in Chitown (this is one of the highest rated hospitals in the U.S.). Also checked his linkedin profile, he's done some research, and I am hopeful he's worked with some of us 4/4's:
Clinical utility of inflammatory markers and advanced lipoprotein testing: advice from an expert panel of lipid specialists.

I was unable to find a free copy... if anyone can get access would appreciate if you could post it here.

Brilliant. When is your appointment?
I'm very interested in what he will say. I've currently got a patient with high trigs (around 5-7 of my units on multiple fasting tests) who I don't think has IR. He has to have one of the gene thingies. I'm sending him for a coronary calcium scan.

So I have found Dr. Brown is very active, here is a link to many many podcasts he has done over the last several years....ru442 wrote:Had cardio appt. today, basically he said keep doin' what your doin', and go see lipidologist. I've asked for an appointment.... waiting to hear back.Stavia wrote:Brilliant. When is your appointment?

My cardio decided to forgo a stress test.... given the genotype results coupled with recent lifestyle changes he agreed that I likely do not have any blockage (as I didn't 2 years ago). I forgot to ask him about IR, but he didn't bring it up so assume he was not worried?? My take is he was more interested in getting me to the proper folks that can work with me, rather than waste my time speculating.

I'm sure you have IR honey. You've been eating lots of carbs and sugars. But that's gonna go right?

I know I know... the first step is admitting you have a problem right?Stavia wrote:I'm sure you have IR honey. You've been eating lots of carbs and sugars. But that's gonna go right?
ETA: And yeah... I have not had any complex carbs or sugars in ~2 weeks now, which is prolly why I've dropped 16lbs rapidly, mostly in the waist area where HGT folks like me store fat.....
