Haslk, I've run your numbers through several calculators and if you take your muscle mass into account your renal function is lower than I would like. If you disregard your body weight it's acceptable for your age. If I were you I would want to exclude anything reversible. The odds are overwhelming that it's normal age related decrease and appropriate but if you have insurance there is no reason why you shouldn't get a decent set of investigations (you call it "workup" I think).

Yes, Stavia, we have good insurance so I will get on that this morning. I will also schedule the other tests you mentioned.

Question: did you mean my primary care doc or the internist needs to be replaced? If its the internist, fear not.
