I wanted to introduce myself and say how honored I am to be a part of this community. My name is Korie, and I am a student in the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and will be interning here starting in a few weeks. I hold a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology, am a Certified Thanatologist and Grief Counselor, and have worked as a Child Life Specialist for over 13 years. On a personal note, my grandmother died from Alzheimers and from that experience I grew an interest in learning more about prevention. Looking forward to learning from you all.

Some of our members (myself included) have gone through a sort of grieving process after learning of their high genetic risk... not completely unlike that of someone facing a terminal illness. Thanatology is the study of death, dying, and grief. I am a certified thanatologist and have worked both in adult and pediatric hospice providing emotional support helping families with a dying family member and then providing grief support.
