How are you feeling? Which diet and lifestyle change has made the biggest, positive difference in a way you feel today?
Thank you, Magda! I am feeling amazing a lot of the time.
How am I feeling?
My energy is the best it has been ever, probably. My hiking has gone from having to push myself to do 15 minutes on a level sidewalk to handling moderate trails with very few breaks. In January, I signed up for a tai chi class for balance and fall prevention. In April, after getting back to hiking in March, I realized I had not once thought of using my hiking poles, which I bought mostly for help with balance... 20 years ago! I still haven't used them but am thinking about carrying them as I hike increasingly strenuous trails often alone.
Which diet and lifestyle change has made the biggest, positive difference in a way you feel today?
This is tougher. I have almost totally changed my diet to all the low glycemic carbs I can eat, moderate protein and high good fats with an 18 hour intermittent fast (after supper to lunch) . But, I am doing it all very imperfectly, not counting, not worrying, just trying to eat right. Yet, I am not hungry, feel great and the numbers do seem to be improving rapidly. Two of the other biggest lifestyle changes I have made are improving my sleep, but again, imperfectly, yet it has made a huge difference in quantity and quality.
And hiking again! Oh, it is not just the exercise. It is so much better than a treadmills or machines, even with incline options! To be outdoors, among the trees and rivers and in the sun and shade. The feel, the scent, the peace. Plus, I seem to be getting stronger, more stamina and more agile fast. I tell people I am 67 and they say, I don't believe it. That did not used to happen. I believe the supplements have helped, too, especially, I think, the methyl-B supplements.
Truthfully, I am still a beginner and my brain is working better but still freezing on the hard stuff. I am so grateful for the people here paving the way and pointing the direction! I truly could not have imagined being where I am today, and can only imagine where I can be if I keep improving and getting better at the lifestyle my body and brain needs.
Thanks again, Magda, for your encouragement. Hope this fits the bill on what you were seeking.
