First I would like to say this is such a wonderful positive website. It makes me feel that I’m not alone.
I found out last year that I was 4/4. I had sent a saliva sample into a research study without realizing what the impact of knowing my Gene status was. I have been looking at this website for a while and finally am taking the time to introduce myself as I’m in a bit of a crisis.I am a worrier and have increased anxiety which I have always controlled by exercise. Since I learned my gene status my anxiety has been up and down. I have always eaten pretty healthy with minimal saturated fats, lots of fruits but did eat unrefined carbs in my diet. My weakness being whole wheat pretzels. Since I learned my gene status have cut back on carbs increased healthy fats , veggies and started some supplements. Curcumin, Ashwaganda, Bacopei Moniera. I have been on biodentical hormones for about 12 years.I try to exercise regularly but have to say haven’t been as active as I should be.As far as I know my hearts healthy. (Family history of heart disease)I am slim so avoiding diabetes as it’s rampant in my family. Most recently I have developed horrible insomnia last 2-3 months getting 3-4 hours a night. Once in a while a little more.I stay away from the sleeping medications and have tried different things ashwaganda with magnolia bark, melatonin, CBD magnesium, yoga 2x weekly, meditation every night. I can fall asleep using a bedtime routine no computers, blue light blockers , red lights in bedroom wake up 3 -4hours and am not sleepy also space but not tired the next day. I’m starting CBT and just started seeing a function medicine doctor. I have gotten my self so scared that it’s a sign of early Alzheimer’s ( my cognition is still ok) I know anxiety plays a big part but the less I sleep the more I picture my Beta Amyloid building up. I’ve read too much on the internet saying poor sleep especially APOE4 ‘a make me at higher risk or impaired sleep early sign of hypo campus damage I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this and can other factors such as exercise, healthy diet which is good for the brain to remove Beta Amyloid make up for the build up when not sleeping. I’m very much trying to be positive that this will pass and enjoy each day being alive and otherwise healthy but it’s not easy. Thanks for listening to my rant
