E4 and AMD

I also have 3 variants for AMD, as per 23andme. I found this online, which looks like E4s have at least this going for us... seems to indicate it is protective for AMD?

Interesting, my friend recently told me that she has AMD & her eyesight has been getting worse every year. I recently told her that I'm E4/4!

The study that plans to replace a 4 with a 2 doesn't want to replace both 4s of the participants because of any potential benefits of the 4. So, I stumbled upon one that directly applies to me! If you scroll down to the portion that speaks to ApoE, it mentions that most studies show a protective factor of having a 4 of keeping ones sight. It is pretty frightening to think of myself of both blind and demented. So, I hold on to any hope I get!
