My grandfather died out of AD; His son, my father, died out of AD. Both of them were smart people in their young. They began to show symptoms in their late 60's, even before.

Their memories were completely erased. My grandfather couldn't even speak or open their eyes in his last year of life. He had to be fed through a nasogastric tube. It was inhumane.

When I took my DNA test. I was prepared for the worse. "Luckily", I am only an APOE 3/4 carrier (rs429358 (C;T). rs7412 (C;C) (3x risk).

Adding to that, also I am an rs4420638(A;G) (3x risk), and rs2075650(A;G) (2x risk)

Otherwise, I am rs3865444(G;T) (slight reduction), rs11136000(C;T) (0.84x decreased risk), s3851179(A;G) (0.85x decreased risk).

I don't know what to think about these combinations.

This week. I have been reading compulsively every single stuff about this disease.

I just want to say hello, and thank all you for providing all this useful information.

Hello Mitrofan,

Welcome to the forum! We are so happy to have you join this supportive community.

I am so sorry to hear about your family members that have suffered with AD. It takes a lot of courage to get DNA testing done when there is a family history. Please know there is so much hope today as the field of science known as epigenetics is showing evidence about how we can turn our genes on and off based on diet, environmental exposures, exercise, and lifestyle behaviors.

A great place to get started here is by reviewing the Primer which is loaded with information and was written by the physician that created this site.

Also check out the Wikki Page which has additional information regarding diet and lifestyle behaviors that promote cognitive health.

Another way to stay connected with us is by joining the facebook group.

Best of luck on your journey as you continue researching. Please stay in touch.

Again, we are happy you are here.
