My New Lipids - Whoa. :)

Post by LillyBritches »

Guys - I'm floored. Dr. Trutt did a fasting lipid on me. Look at these numbers!

Total Cholesterol: 164 (down from 205)
HDL: 58 (up from 51)
LDL: 95 (down from 138)
Trigs: 56 (down from 95)

:o

Yeppers. I'm "lab bragging." <---- Private joke to Julie. Lifestyle changes: I've lost 25 lbs, am doing Medifast (low carbs), am in slight ketosis, and have increased my exercise. Mind, I'm still on my Simvastatin and, additionally, I figured out that with my weight loss and diet alteration, the Niacin Dr. Long has me on for my Lp(a) is impacting those triglycerides, too. However, my trigs have always been good...never a problem. I asked Dr. Trutt if I could lower my simvastatin now, and he told me "not yet. Wait until you get to goal weight [about 30-40ish more lbs.] I want these numbers to stick for awhile. Then we can lower or discontinue."

I'm sorry to "lab brag," but I truly can't get over these numbers. I don't think they've EVER been this great since I began measuring when I hit middle-age.

Then again, you KNOW, right after being ecstatic, I immediately thought: "OMG - cholesterol drops precipitously when you develop AD." I expressed my concern to Dr. Trutt, and he burst out laughing, "Are you going to get AD next Tuesday? Um, NO." He reassured me that it's all my diet, exercise, and weight loss. And the statin on top of the weight loss.

Okkkkaaaayyy, I'm blathering. I'm just really happy. And happy that I won't develop dementia this upcoming Tuesday. :D
I'm just a oily slick in a windup world with a nervous tick.

I concur with your Doctors opinion.
Great job on the weight loss, keep that iron constitution gene turned on and you should do great.

Great job, Lilly! Of course will really be celebrating the day when you get off statins altogether, and looks like that's getting close!

Stay on this regime so you can clean out the arterial plaque for your next carotid US. Good job LB!
