J11 I think the outbox is like the sent folder in email?

I believe the message stays in the outbox until the recipient reads the message...

Ohh, stays in the outbox until read--- good answer.
I was worried that it had not been sent at all.

This is a good idea about knowing when people actually get to reading the PM. It might add some stress though for people to turn their outbox items into my inbox.

Thanks for posting this J11, and to SusanJ for the reply. I had a message that stayed in my Outbox for days, and I kept trying to "send ".

Then it magically switched to "Sent". Now I know why.

Flora, always good to ask when you don't understand something because usually everyone else in the lecture hall is also stumped but are too afraid to ask.

We can learn from each other.

Hmm, I wonder if all those sent PMs would clog up the other person's inbox. Would they also need to be opened one by one to convert from the sendor's outbox to sent box? This is more complicated than it would appear on first impression.

I believe the message stays in the outbox till the recipient reads it. Then it gets transferred to the sent folder. I also think the message can be edited, deleted & etc in the outbox prior to the recipient reading it.

Susan, thanks for the answer! I'd been a mite flummoxed by this.

Hi! I'm new here and I want to know how to change my user name. I thought it was just to be used for registering and now it appears to be my user name for the forums. Can anyone help me with this?
