How can I eliminate the toxic mold Ochratoxin A from my body, preferably without drugs?
Thank you
Ochratoxin A
Re: Ochratoxin A
Ochratoxin is a mold toxin. There are a few conversations where it is mentioned on our website. The search function is reached through the magnifying glass in the tool bar right upper corner.
Of equal importance is figuring out how you were exposed, and how to eliminate the exposure. Why did you have mold toxins tested? Do you live in a moldy house? Are you still working with a ReCode provider?

Several posts on this topic have been eaten by a major technique glitch, including entries on this topic; please read about the glitch here.
That being said, I remember you mentioning that your wife is seeing an functional medicine doctor (Bredesen trained?), is on binders, and air mold sampling has been done. I was surprised about the air mold testing, which is not the approach recommended by Dr Bredesen. If you have his book, you'll see a few entries on mold in the index. Dr B recommends mold testing with ERMI dust collection, not air collection (pg. 205 item 3).
Mold air testing tells us what is in the air at that moment by trapping mold spores, which are cultured on a mold growth plate. There are some molds that don't grow very well, so might not be detected by culture. There is movement towards doing an ERMI test, which looks at mold DNA. It finds DNA from mold particles and fragments, not just mold spores. It is thought that the particles and fragments are just as likely to produce mold toxins. The dust collection gives information on what has been in the air and has settled on a surface, so provides not just what is present right now, but also in the past. Dr Shoemaker, who is considered the father of CIRS, uses the ERMI approach. His website is mentioned in Dr B's book.
On a personal note, I have been diagnosed with CIRS, and did an ERMI dust test myself in my bedroom and home office. The score was high enough to support the need for remediation. One particular mold, Wallemia seba, was the largest contributor. It is often found in soil. It was recommended to me to do air testing indoors and outdoors to determine where the Wallemia was coming from. One needs special equipment to do air testing, so I hired a recommended mold testing company. The air samples showed no mold either inside or outside, neither the Wallemia or the other types of mold that were detected on ERMI. Upon further investigation, I found out that a different type of collection canister was needed to detect Wallemia, but the canister company would not sell it to my mold collection company because they did not have the right credentials.
I decided to do an ERMI in the basement, which has 2 crawl spaces. The dust collection found a HUGE amount of Wallemia and other molds that are common in soil, among with other types of mold. At this point, I hired a mold inspector, who found mold in many of the floor joists and planks in the basement, plus exposed soil that had not been adequately covered by plastic sheeting in one of the crawl spaces.
Nothing is simple or straightforward about mold testing or remediation. There are many conflicting opinions on how to approach both. Navigate carefully and wisely. Read what you can in Dr Bredesen's book and make sure that your doctor, the first line of information, knows what they are doing in this very complex and controversial area.

Thanks Slacker. Your point on ERMI testing
is a good one. After I get the results from air testing, I will look into it. Appreciate your help.

Re: Ochratoxin A
Hello Slacker.
The test for our condo came back with excellent results, almost no mold spores.
I called the lab and confirmed the test would have picked up the spores that would cause my wife’s toxin,
Ochratoxin A. I also asked the Doctor in charge of the lab about ERMI. He said the EPA came
up with the test but in 2012? no longer supported it. He could, of course, be biased but said what’s important
is what is in the air we are breathing. Makes sense to me.
