Understanding beta-hydroxybutyrate levels

Post by waaeaa »

Dr Bredesen recommends beta-hydroxybutyrate between 1.0 mmol/L to 4.0 mmol/L.
How should this be interpreted, as,
- your level should be between 1.0 - 4.0 throughout the entire day, or,
- Your average for the day should fall within this range, or,
- You should have a level within this range at least once during the day?
Thanks for the assistance in understanding the recommendation.

waaeaa, ultimately your ideal level will depend upon your specific needs. For most people in a prevention/maintenance mode, getting to at least 1.0 (or higher) at some point during the day is sufficient. I do so primarily with fasting and exercise. Those who are actively working to reverse cognitive decline may find that they function better with higher amounts throughout the day. Experiment to see what works for you.
