Thanks Apod. Very useful in helping us expand our knowledge
Re: Prof. Ken Sikaris: Cholesterol - When to Worry (sdLDL info)
Ah, the Aussie version of Dr. Gundry! Very informative, apod. This definitely makes me want to directly test my sdLDL. Do we need an East Coast rebuttal?
Re: Prof. Ken Sikaris: Cholesterol - When to Worry (sdLDL info)
I really hate listening to these lipid scientists who summarily trash carbohydrates as a food source, but never distinguish between raw sugar/candy (zero dietary fiber), lightly cooked tubers/starches (some fiber), and veggies/brussel sprouts etc. (high fiber).
They complain about carbs causing the liver to spew out trigs, but they make little to no distinction about what carbs actually do that other than fructose. It's moronic.

They also don't distinguish between high-fructose / high-sugar / low-fiber foods (fruit like grapes, currants, watermelon, ripe banana, mango, pineapple, dates, etc) vs isolated carbohydrate molecules or delve too deeply into the metabolic context around consuming these foods, which is confusing for me. If I recall, there's also some potential difference between sdLDL production for ApoE4s with plant-based fatty acids vs animal-based fatty acids?aphorist wrote:I really hate listening to these lipid scientists who summarily trash carbohydrates as a food source, but never distinguish between raw sugar/candy (zero dietary fiber), lightly cooked tubers/starches (some fiber), and veggies/brussel sprouts etc. (high fiber).

Sometimes, it feels a bit like navigating a mine field. Although, as long as I'm eating whole foods and staying active, I feel like I'm in the clear -- just fine-tuning the nitty gritty details.

apod, incredibly useful video. Clearest explanation I've ever seen of the fate of dietary constituents with respect to lipids. (But Aphorist, yes, not all carbs are the same....)

I was also glad this got bumped. Great video. I plan to listen until I get this part mastered. Understand your concerns aphorist.
ApoE 3/4 > Thanks in advance for any responses made to my posts.
Re: Prof. Ken Sikaris: Cholesterol - When to Worry (sdLDL info)
He says that if your trig. are high then you have small ldl .. in looking at my numbers from before .. where sdLDL-C was tested.. I have high sdLDL-C 38 and optimal trig. at 71 .. are APOE4's the exception to this?
Re: Prof. Ken Sikaris: Cholesterol - When to Worry (sdLDL info)
wow.. going back and looking at all these numbers from 3 years ago where I got a more detailed blood panel.. I have high Lp(a) which is indicator of heart event .. he also says there's nothing that can be done about Lp(a).. is this more common in 4/4's?
Re: Prof. Ken Sikaris: Cholesterol - When to Worry (sdLDL info)
Julie.. have you not had your sdLDL tested .. or is directly test something different
