These are all fascinating. Here are two more Acetyl-l-carnitine (ALCAR) studies of interest. Note that L-acetyl-carnitine (LAC) and acetylcarnitine (ALC) are identical to ALCAR. Also, don't confuse ALCAR/LAC/ALC with L-carnitine which is a different substance rather than another synonym. Confused yet? Neither of these studies are ApoE4-specific:

Effect of PPF and ALCAR on the induction of NGF- and p75-mRNA and on APP processing in Tg2576 brain

Welcome, Merouleau!

Yes, ALCAR is fascinating. A lot of people in the life-extension community stopped taking it when the TMAO study was published. (Google ALCAR and TMAO.) But I doubt it's a problem (and not because ALCAR is different from L-carnitine).

I hope so too!

Add natural phenols: EVOO, green tea, red wine, berries, spices, and aromatic herbs to the list!

Beneficial properties of natural phenols: Highlight on protection against pathological conditions associated with amyloid aggregation.
