jgilberAZ, as far as I know macadamia nuts are excellent.
Two 12 hours fasts versus a 16-18 hr fast and two meals close together - I don't know of any trials. But I strongly believe that any strategy has to be sustainable
How are your biomarkers and your general well-being?

Here are my numbers from March.
I am not as consistent as I would like to be, unfortunately.
And, I don't recall how consistent I was at that time.
But, here they are:

A1C 5.5
eAG 111
Total Cholesterol 162
Trig 70
Chl/HDL 3.6
HDL 45
Non-HDL 117
LDL 103
VLDL 14

When I was eating the standard diet, my HDL was always in the low-thirties.
Since I've been eating low carb (2009), it's been in the mid-forties.

In 2015, my doctor (Rocky Patel) was concerned because of my lipid response to my diet, so ordered a genetic test.
That's when I found out about being 3/4. He didn't tell me its relationship to AD, just that it messed with my body's ability to process saturated fats. That's when I stopped consuming large amounts of saturated fat, and started to focus more on mono fats.
My numbers improved significantly.

Actually, I found a result from when I was eating loads of butter with every meal.

total cholesterol 224
percent HDL 17.9
LDL 163
chol/hdl 5.6
trig 147
HDL 42

Generally, I feel pretty good.

jgilberAZ, how low carb are you? How many grams a day?
Your Hba1c is higher than I would normally recommend for an e4.
I personally dont believe blood lipids (within reason) are accurately relevant to heart disease. A coronary calcium score in my opinion is far more useful.
When you said you were eating butter - your trigs don't look like a low carb diet looks.

I don't count carbs every day like I used to since I have a pretty good idea of what has carbs and what doesn't, and try to avoid the known sources of carbs. That said, I would think I am well below 50 carbs per day most of the time.

I totally agree re: the relationship between lipids and heart disease.
I've had two calcium scans, one just before I turned 50, and one last year (54).
Both of them were zero. :D

It was because my numbers didn't look like they should on a low carb diet that the genetic test was ordered.
I think they were exaggerated precisely because I was eating butter at every meal.
Literally. A spoonful or two of KerryGold all by itself at every meal.
Tasted delicious! But, not very good for an Apoe 3/4.

I think I am on the right track now that I understand the Apoe4 implications.
LCHF still, but mono instead of saturated.
I might be crazy, but I drink about a half shot glass of olive oil a couple times a week.
(Fresh olive oil from Queen Creek Olive Mill).
