Mild Intimal Thickness

Post by Nequals1Guy »

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on recent results I received from a QIMT ultrasound? I have all these numbers in a table but they don't mean a lot to me. There's one line that says "Mild intimal thickening is noted throughout the vessel. Normal ica/cca velocity ratio is noted. Antegrade vertebral flow is noted."

Left QIMT 715
Right QIMT 552
RICA/RCCA Ratio: 0.64
LICA/LCCA Ratio: 0.42

In light of my zero calcium scores over past 3 years, I'm evaluating taking statins or just keeping on doing what I'm doing. My lp(a) was 132 a few weeks ago and that got me scared a bit. Of course the medical standard of care is to look at risk factors... but if you don't show significant evidence of disease, yet have significant risk factors, should you treat ? Big questions. Probably no easy consensus of answers.
