That's blood sugar, not the other BS!
This morning (at 1030am), for the first time since 18 Nov, I tested my FBG. It was 8.9! Usually around 4.5-5.
This was a big surprise. I did have a very poor nights sleep last night, falling asleep at midnight and waking a few times during the night (feeling a bit hot) before finally waking at 0600. This isn't normal, as I usually sleep well, with no waking, not feeling of heat. Occasionally, a bad nights sleep like last night seems to indicate that I'me coming down with a cold. I feel a bit cold today, so that's a possibility.
I had a look online and poor sleep can seem to mess with your BS but 8.9 still seems a bit high.
Any thoughts?
Oh, before testing this morning, I'd irradiated my forehead with 830nm IR for 15 mins, my thyroid for about 5 and my abdomen for about 10 mins...

Did you take another test right after?
I once had an unusually high reading, especially in comparison to my ketone levels. I wiped the area I was going to draw blood from with alcohol and took another test. Ta-da! A reasonable result, less than 5 minutes after the first one. Either the meter had a bad reading or something on the skin was externally influencing the result.
I also had an unusually high BS result when I decided to test after working out. I figured the workout would raise my ketones and I wanted to see by how much. What I saw was a high glucose level for me, which freaked me out. What I didn't realize at the time was working out will raise glucose, so learning that unfreaked me.
One last possibility - stress can raise glucose.

I'd retest on a day where you get good sleep and before you do all your IR stuff.
Stress/illness/exercise can wreak havoc with blood sugar as the liver with crank out glycogen. Learned this lesson 15 years ago when friends' daughter presented with T1 diabetes. They commented that whenever she was sick, it was very difficult to control her blood sugar. Also always good to retest when your readings are outliers. The strips aren't 100% accurate.

I tested an hour later after a sauna and it was 6. Still high for me. I'll check again over the next few days.
I just read something there about high blood sugar disturbing sleep, which in turn causes high blood sugar!
Many thanks for the replies.
