Thought this Peter Attia podcast where he interviews Dr. Krauss may be of interest. It is somewhat long at almost 2 hrs but covers many interesting topics. He talks about the importance of LDL particle count and size, the use of statins, the role of inflammation, niacin and why its been unjustly dismissed as a therapeutic option, and much more. I found the genetic studies cited quite powerful in supporting the LDL hypothesis. Also found the discussion on statins and dementia interesting and their preference for statins that don't breach the blood brain barrier. They touch very briefly on the APOE 4 allele and expect to do another podcast to cover that in more detail.

I guess a 2 hour transcription is too much to ask for

Yup. Peter has also admitted that he is lazy and gives props to Rhonda Patrick for doing so for her podcasts. That said he does provide numerous show notes with the times.

No. But not surprised as Dr. Krauss does mention our group and a meeting he had with some of us a couple of years back.

Well worth the listen. Two cholesterol experts having an amazing conversation, with deep humility about what is known and what is not.
With my inhouse tech support, actually listened to the podcast to and from work on my phone through Bluetooth. It was nice to listen in small increments, moving the time back a bit to re-listen to certain sections, with no MVAs. I'm sure this is like falling off a log for some of you!

This was a truly deep dive.
And it was great to hear such an expert giving props to those in this forum — well deserved!
To those who spoke with Dr Krauss, do you recall his advice for Apoe-4s?
Anything contrary to the general view found on these boards?

It was a few years ago and we were still searching for a clear path. There was still a lot of uncertainty. We already knew about IR affecting lipids then which he confirmed.
But a highlight was us asking what we should eat. He replied "oh you know, whole grains" and we all looked at each other until someone brave said "Dr Kraus we dont eat grains at all" and he answered puzzled " So what do you eat?"
Classic.
Adorable man. I have enormous respect for him.
Ill try load photos of my notes here.
