OTC test for Diabetes
OTC test for Diabetes
Might someone on the forum suggest an OTC product that could be used to diagnose pre- or frank diabetes?

Re: OTC test for Diabetes
There are home HbA1c tests. I've never used one, but on other forums heard that users got similar values to lab results.

Obviously a glucometer. Get a glucometer, get test strips, get 75 grams of sugar (water) and do a 2 hour a fasting glucose test at home.
Re: OTC test for Diabetes
Thank you everyone!
I am grateful for your suggestions as this is not familiar to me.
Does the glucometer simply read the color of the glucose strip?
wiki mentions that test strips exist that can be read visually. For my purposes, this might be all that is needed.
"Non-meter test strips
Test strips that changed color and could be read visually, without a meter, have been widely used since the 1980s."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucose_meter
Are all these tests blood based?
If I could avoid the needle stick with a urine test, then I would choose the non-invasive option.
I have recently bought a pH monitor.
Is there any relationship between urine pH and diabetes?
Anyone know of an American source for Glucoflex-R?
Glucoflex-R is made in Australia and I see a large amount of retail availability in the UK, though I have not yet found an American
distributor. If I were in the UK, I would jump at the offer of 50 strips for 12 pounds with reasonable shipping.

Re: OTC test for Diabetes
I am so glad that I bought the electronic pH monitor. It only cost $15 and it looks like it could be very useful. Great investment!
I am not entirely sure how accurate the below url is regarding the link between low pH and cancer, though I will be keeping
a close eye on my saliva, urine and possibly blood pH levels just to be safe.

Re: OTC test for Diabetes
I was pretty scared this morning when my urine pH read out at 5.41.
I will order a glucometer soon!
