Soybeans instead of ERT?

Post by Nikki2019 »

Hey there,

Is anyone consuming soy products instead of ERT such as prescribed premarin? :?:
Is it a good idea?

The amount of estrogen found in soy products are minimal in comparison to prescription estrogen and so unlikely to help with cognition. Premarin, or any oral estrogen, has a higher risk for blood clots and stroke, unlike the estradiol patches. The primer has a nice summary about female hormone replacement therapy, including the uncertainties surrounding it.

If you choose to eat soy, be sure it is organic. Soy is notoriously genetically modified.
