Bentkat, very interesting re. CR. Here's notes from the transcript of Dr. Gundry's podcast with Jimmy Moore. Note how he eats ONE meal a day from Jan-May. I still enjoy a bit a few ounces of Cabernet occasionally; nice to see that Dr. Gundry isn't opposed...however I temper that approval with other research

Dr. Steven Gundry with diet recommendations for ApoE4
Re: Dr. Steven Gundry with diet recommendations for ApoE4
Here's an excellent brochure, written (in part) by Dr. Gundry entitled "Tips for preventing heart attacks and reversing cardiovascular disease." IMO, it applies beautifully to preventing AD as well.

I note that Dr. Gundry recommends D-Ribose supplementation in the linked document. I don't believe we've talked about this before here. Thoughts?

Yeah, I've been looking at that one. It's new to me. I'm trying to understand the mechanism behind it, but have some reservations for E4s.

The question of whether or not D-Ribose contributes to glycation is asked and answered here, but I'm unaware of the qualifications of the replierIt also participates in the glycation of proteins producing advanced glycation end products (AGEs) that lead to cell dysfunction and death. As recent studies show, ribosylation, a rapid process, causes protein aggregation in vitro and in vivo.

Just to note I've secured a new patient phone consult w Dr. Gundry on Aug 9. Will share key elements of anything new I learn.

Russ, so happy for you, my friend I'm very excited to learn any tid bit you can throw our way. He's a top notch doc and seems to be a great fit for you.
I'm swamped with travel/houseguests, but am working on a list of E4 questions for him.

YIKES, Jul! In addition to the study you linked:
http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Ad ... ne.0024623
Conclusions/Significance
These data demonstrate that D-ribose but not D-glucose reacts rapidly with proteins and produces significant amounts of AGEs in both cultured cells and the mouse brain, leading to accumulation of AGEs which may impair mouse spatial cognition.
:-O
Gonna steer clear for now.

That was my preliminary conclusion too, Lill.
I can see how a very damaged heart could benefit from the additional energy source, but to use it proactively...as such a high cost???
