Thanks for sharing!
As the Brits say, though, "Early days", especially when this is a press release from Yale. It's not actually a drug at this stage, but a compound that shows promise. Way before Phase I clinical trials could happen, they and probably other researchers will need to demonstrate that this works on other genetically engineered AD mice, and on "other organisms" as noted below. From a little I've read, that can include zebrafish! What may be most promising is that the article says they found this compound from studying thousands of possibilities. That implies using "machine learning", running compounds through computer algorithms to tests 1000's in the same amount of time a research post-doc could test a tiny fraction. Those kinds of efforts may bring a bonanza of possible targets for further development in the next few years.
“The biggest implication of the findings is that there could someday be a drug or medicine that people can take orally that can impact the outcome for Alzheimer’s disease. Ideally it would be something that could be taken in an early stage before symptoms even develop,” said Janie Merkel, the director of the Yale Center for Molecular Discovery.

Merkel said that there are several potential routes for further research once funding has been secured, including studying additional models of mouse disease and moving to other organisms.
4/4 and still an optimist!
